| Some
common dental emergencies seen by our Medicaid dentist |
| Toothache
caused by decay:
Dental
Decay / Tooth Decay, may be
seen as white or dark areas on the surface of the tooth in the beginning
stages. These areas of decalcification will often become darker as
the decay
progresses. If the tooth goes untreated the pupal tissue becomes infected
and
may result
in an abscess at the apex or bottom of the tooth root. As call us
for help. |
 |
Treatment:
If
the tooth
decay
is in the beginning stages we may be able to remove the decay and
place a filling. However, in the majority of emergency cases
when the decay is at the nerve (pulp) the tooth will either require
a root
canal
or extraction. Contact our Las Vegas Medicaid dentist immediately
for relief ! |

is an infection found in the tissue surrounding a tooth and is a sequela
to Periodontal
Disease and
its associated bone lost and pocket formation caused
by accumulation
of food, plaque, calculus (tartar) and bacteria in the tissue around
a tooth. |
 |
Treatment:
The
treatment of a Periodontal
Abscess includes
scraping
the pocket lining to eliminate the infection, and the removal of calculus

| Fractured
Tooth: Prognosis
of a fractured
tooth is dictated by whether
the pulp was exposed by the fracture
and the extent of damage to the root and coronal portion.
If
there is no exposure of the dentin or the pulp chamber the sensitivity
associated with the trauma will generally subside. Fractures
involving the pulp can be very painful. Call our Medicaid Providers
as soon as possible. |
 |
Treatment:
If
the fracture
is only in enamel and there is no mobility or pain, a cosmetic
procedure may be performed to restore the appearance of the tooth.
If there is an exposure of the pulp and associated pain, a root
canal
may be indicated to to save the tooth and relieve the symptoms. |
